Andrew Bridgen officially opened Home-Start North West Leicestershire’s new charity shop based in Rushtons Yard in Ashby on Friday 27th February.
Since April Home-Start North West Leicestershire has supported 98 families with at least one child under 5 who are experiencing difficulties with family life. Trained and supported volunteers have visited families in their own homes to offer emotional support and practical help.
Home-Start are particularly proud of their very successful “Mums In Mind” courses which have also supported 22 mums (and dads) suffering from post natal depression.
Pamela Moretta, Scheme Manager said: “As cuts have impacted on our organisation we have taken the course of action to open this shop in order to generate enough revenue to maintain our service.
We hope that local people will support this local charity.”
Andrew Bridgen MP said: “I am pleased to be a part of the launch of Home-Start’s new venture. I have supported the Home-Start team since I started as Member of Parliament for North West Leicestershire and since I have seen them grow from strength to strength. I wish their shop every success, if their volunteers are anything to go by, I know the shop will be a great one.”
